Kendrick - Brinati Scholarship

The Kendrick - Brinati Scholarship is awarded to an incoming student with preference for the following qualifications: financial need emanating from a career change decision, students who identify as female, and high academic standing.

Ann Kendrick and Donna Brinati were dedicated staff and friends of the law school, and helped many law students during their time at the school.

Ann served as a law school administrator and admissions recruiter at the law school. Before she joined the Lewis & Clark staff, Kendrick’s varied career included working for the U.S. Foreign Service in Israel and 16 years as a teaching nun. For six years in the 1970s, as assistant to the law school dean, she was responsible for admissions, placement, alumni relations, and financial aid. She left Portland for other ventures but returned to the law school as a recruiter in 1985 and continued in that role in the 1990s.

According to Jim Huffman, Erskine Wood Professor of Law and longtime law school dean, Kendrick is remembered for her boundless energy and enthusiasm. In recognition of her contributions to the growth and development of the law school, she was made an honorary alumna in 1993.

Donna and Ann Kendrick became adopted sisters in 1970, following the death of Donna’s husband. Both engaged in adventures for almost 40 years. They traveled the world, reveled in its wonders, and invited new-found friends to the lovely home that they built in Shelton, Washington. Donna designed the home and landscaped the property, which overlooked the Puget Sound.
