Doreen Margolin Endowed Scholarship

The Doreen Margolin Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to an entering law student based on need, LSAT score, and GPA with preference given to a student who is a single parent.

Doreen Stamm Margolin (1947-2007) was a 1981 graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School. Doreen was a sole practitioner in Portland, specializing in family law. She served as a Multnomah County circuit court judge pro tem from 1994 - 1999 and was very active in the legal community.

Doreen remained involved with Lewis & Clark Law School, serving on the law school’s Board of Visitors and as President of the Law School Alumni Board. She and her husband, the criminal lawyer turned novelist, Phil Margolin, were active members of the Gantenbein Society.

In 2022, Phil Margolin established the Doreen Margolin Endowed Fund. This fund allocates support in perpetuity, to the Doreen Margolin Endowed Scholarship and the Doreen Margolin Law in Popular Culture Collection.  

The Doreen Margolin Law in Popular Culture Collection is held in the Boley Law Library. The collection includes law related fiction, biography and non-fiction written by and about lawyers. All materials in the Doreen Margolin Law in Popular Culture are available to circulate to the Law School community and alumni.
